Abstract

It’s an irony in life we have to balance the long game vs the short-term needs of life. We have to take risks to advance ahead in life. We need to take action to make things happen.

Experimentation and innovation matter in life. The societies that thrive place paramount importance on research and innovation. Thus, inaction is deadly in all ways it has killed dreams and stifled many individuals lives

Take massive action each day. Experiment and focus on what works. You might have pleasant surprises at the end of the day.

Stagnant Pools

The deadliest water in nature is found in stagnant pools. These are pools with no inlets and outlets.  Even wild animals learn to steer away from such pools. Water that is stagnant and left in the open quickly gets contaminated.

You will only find wild animals drinking from rivers that are flowing and will rarely drink from such pools. They will only drink from these pools unless thirst has driven them to extremes. If you have to drink water from such pools it has to be treated as a minimum.

Application to Real Life

Those who are constantly giving and receiving flourish more in life. The massive action takers will always have better outcomes than inactive and slothful individuals.

When we take an in depth look at literature the most prodigious authors like Stephen King, JK Rowling’s, Enid Blyton stand out from their contemporaries. In the field of music, the most celebrated musicians have been the most prodigious musicians; Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Jay Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, Coldplay etc.

We only remember the most active individuals in any area of life where we have happened to be a participant. If we go back to our earliest childhood memories, we will only remember the most active and outrageous individuals.

That’s the reality of life energy begets energy. If we don’t apply energy and enthusiasm in what we do we should also not expect too much in return from life. This is why lakes and rivers that have many inlets, tributaries and outlets are the most significant features in their natural environment.

Research and Innovation

The individuals, communities, organizations and nations that place a high priority on research and innovation usually come up ahead of their peers.

Those who are constantly embracing constant and never ending improvement in what they do triumph at the end of the day.

Japan

Japan was a nation that was devastated completely by the Second World War. But it picked itself from the ashes and rose to one of the most industrialized countries in the world.

The Toyota Company story and how it rose to become the largest motor company in the world is a story to behold. The company started from textile mills and innovated to become the best textile company in Japan before turning to the car industry.

The rest is history and the company reigns supreme in car sales all over the world.  Other notable companies in Japan include Mitsubishi, Sony and other manufacturing giants. These companies can attribute their rise to the top based on the principle of never-ending continuous improvement.

Dubai

The city Dubai has become synonymous with the largest man-made projects that challenge the imagination. Ice rinks in the desert, the highest hotel, the largest malls, largest airports etc.

The rulers are constantly innovating. The energy in the city is tangible. The real estate and architectural master pieces are a joy to behold. It’s a wonder city that has inspired many individuals globally. Yet this was only a backwater and undeveloped city in the 1960’s.

The ambition and energy, has worked miracles for this city.

Summary

What areas in our lives are suffering from inaction? We have to embrace action as a principle in our lives. Those who venture out boldly and seize their days and moments always come out miles ahead of the rest.
