How do we structure our Average Day?

5 min Read

How you spend each day determines your destiny in the long run.

I visited one of my kids in school and was given their report card. I was less than impressed by the results but I cannot blame the kid. I have not taught the kid how to seize and structure their day.

You have heard of the Latin phrase ‘Carpe Diem’ Seize the Day. The most successful individuals systemize their lives to seize their days and shape their destinies.

Britannica Encyclopedia Definition  Carpe diem | Origin, Meaning, Uses, Examples, & Facts | Britannica

Carpe diem, (Latin: “pluck the day” or “seize the day”) phrase used by the Roman poet Horace to express the idea that one should enjoy life while one can.

Carpe diem is part of Horace’s injunction “carpe diem quam minimum credula postero,” which appears in his Odes (I.11), published in 23 BCE. It can be translated literally as “pluck the day, trusting as little as possible in the next one.” The phrase carpe diem has come to stand for Horace’s entire injunction, and it is more widely known as “seize the day.”
