Abstract
Once strategic plans are in place for goals/projects then the tactical details/nuances come into play. You have heard of the phrase take care of the small details first and the big picture will come into play.
Ensure you execute the small individual tasks/milestones very well so you don’t have to revert back to them on a later day. I have learnt in life the best outcomes usually come when you take care of the key milestones/tasks and close them out very well.
From small mundane activities such as laundry, learning, cooking to the larger projects such as building a house, each activity can be broken down to key tasks/milestones and once these are executed well you will be surprised how efficient and effective you become.
Importance of Daily Action
Again, I cannot emphasize enough, take massive action if you want your dreams to come true. Seize the day, but take smart action. Do not just go about life without due thought and care applied to your activities. Always have a detailed plan and follow it through.
All successful individuals, organizations and communities make detailed plans and they follow through on these plans. A goal without a detailed plan of execution will remain a pipe dream. Anything is possible but ensure you have a plan in place.
The best are always executing but they execute with guided plans and not in the dark. They study the environment carefully and choose activities that are aligned to their greatest strengths. They optimize their resources and build from there.
Building a House
The best analogy I can use as an example is building a house. Before building a house, an architect has to be engaged who will assist you draw up a plan. The assumption is that you have already acquired the land to build the house.
After the architect has drawn up the plan, they will engage a quantity surveyor who will come up with the bill of quantities that determine the cost and financing of the entire project. This will be used as a yardstick to engage banks for financing proposals.
Once the financing and all approvals from relevant authorities are in place the construction can commence. House construction has four major phases which include foundation laying, wall construction to beam level, roofing and the final internal/external finishes. All these stages/milestones are mapped in an overall plan.
Once you begin your only key focus will be on each stage and it’s execution. You start and close out each stage gradually. Your focus is a brick by brick layout till the construction ends. This is how all/most projects are executed in life.
Summary
Seize each and every day and complete your important and vital projects. They add up and eventually you will find you have accomplished much more than you thought possible. Dream and have big goals but you have to learn how to execute them.
Bringing laser focus to your individual projects using milestones and checklists is important. Execution day by day is key but ensure it’s aligned to your overall goals so you are not wasting precious time
