Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.”– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you. – Thomas Jefferson

A good goal is like a strenuous exercise — it makes you stretch.”– Mary Kay Ash

Many great ideas go unexecuted, and many great executioners are without ideas. One without the other is worthless.”– Tim Blixseth

Action - The Force that turns Goals into Reality

Writing down goals and planning is a big step forward but ACTION is what separates those who make it and those who languish behind. Taking the necessary steps, each and every day without fail no matter what, separates the successful from the failures. It all boils down to this simple equation below:

Results = Goals x Execution   R= G * E

Mix the worst ideas with poor execution and you end up with poor results. Mediocre ideas plus mediocre execution and you still get poor results. Great ideas with poor execution you get average results.  You can only get exceptional results when you merge great ideas with great execution.

Steve Jobs in Apple was a stickler for great execution and great thinking. He was reknown for his drive and lack of patience with those who could not dream big and execute big. Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, Larry Ellison, Albert Einstein, Warren Buffet, Nelson Mandela, Winston Churchill…. the list goes on and on. Those who have dreamt big and executed big usually come up with exceptional results.

BIG goals plus BIG execution and you get  the iphone, the Mona Lisa, the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids of Egypt, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Windows software, Hilton Hotels, The Ritz Carlton, the Burj in Dubai, the Taj Mahal these are all testament to man’s ability to think big and make it big.  The great companies like Coca Cola, Walmart, Google, Toyota, Ford, Amazon, Facebook, Mercedes Benz were all formed out of great ideas merged with great execution.

Modern day nations have been catapulted to greatness out of mediocrity. Great leaders who had the vision and also executed well have turned back waters into modern marvels. Singapore and Dubai come into mind. These were third world countries in the 1960’s but with great vision and great execution have been turned into modern states.

Action the Differentiator

You may have the wrong goals but if they are BIG and well executed. it can also result in unimaginable horror and results. We had Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Sadaam Hussein… dictators driven by wrong goals but executed them very well to the detriment of mankind. This shows the power of execution and aiming for the top. When you mix these two elements the results are usually explosive.

Our only duty is to dream big and execute massively. We should not let our self imposed limitations or other’s limitations hold us back. You are exactly what you think and do at the end of each and every day.  Thus when you make your plans, ensure they are aligned with the right action required. If you are aiming to shoot high it also requires the right action to achieve that target you are aiming at. If you want to sit at the table of achievers you need to prove you have what it takes to sit at that table.

Borrowing a leaf from Grant Cardone if you want to 10x your results you should 10X your goals and 10X your execution. Or if you fancy playing with equations,  use The equation R = G * E  to estimate your results

Thus when you set your goals be ruthless during the entire planning process. Please ensure you estimate the right resourcing and effort required to achieve these goals. Study the best business plans. The internet is a vast library and will provide direction to those who are willing to take up the call and drive forward.
